NFL 100th Anniversary

Tonight, the NFL will be debuting its 100th season. One of the oldest rivalries will be playing to kickoff this great achievement. The Bears and Packers are set to kickoff Tonight at 8:20 PM Est. Before I dive into the game, let’s talk about the history of the NFL. The NFL has seen many legendary players and coaches. There are also many fierce rivalries between divisions. Changes throughout the years have bettered the organization. For example, when they changed from a regular championship to the Super Bowl. 100 years is a long time, so there has been a journey that this league has been taken on. They’ve had a lot of time to adjust on rules, and perfect their way of doing things. Differences in the league now compared to the past are that they are making player safety a priority. Another difference is that, today the NFL is mainly a passing league. In the past, most teams were run heavy teams. The last difference I would like to point out is the evolution of the review system. At first there wasn’t a review in the early years, and then that progressed to where they had one, starting in 1976. Today, every touchdown is reviewed to make sure that the player who catches the touchdown has control, and also has both feet in bounds. This year, the NFL is introducing a new pass interference review. This means that if the referee has the chance to make the best call he can, before the game advances. To initiate this challenge process, the coach of the team that was interfered with, has to throw the challenge flag. Now to get into the game. My prediction is that the Bears will come out with the win. I believe that their defense will find a way to shut down the opposing offense, especially if Khalil Mack slows things down. I also think that Bears star, Tarik Cohen, will have a great game. His ability to catch out of the back field is a great one. Overall this will be a fun, and exciting game to start the season off with.
