Hopewell vs Petersburg

This week the Hopewell Blue Devils traveled to Petersburg to play the Crimson Wave. Hopewell has played really well so far this season and would look to do so again in this game. In the first half, Trey Henderson would start this game off with a kickoff return for a TD. The Defense would start off great allowing only one score. Jarin Goode had the first turnover of the game with an INT. Kaiveon Cox was also among the key players on defense in the first half. Dynamic duo of Trey Henderson and Kaiveon Cox ran the ball well on the offense. The duo would score 4 rushing TDs in the first half. Joseph Eliades also made some key plays with his arms and legs. In the second half the offense would continue to make big plays including more TDs from Trey Henderson and Kavieon Cox. Later in the third quarter QB Mason Cumbie would come in and scramble for two more TDs. Another player that would score for the offense late in the game was RB Khatoine Taylor. The defense would play well again in this half, despite allowing two more TDs. A key play on that side of the ball would be a fumble recovery by Shamari Mason. The Devils would go on to win this game 64-20. In total Hopewell would tally up 569 rushing yards, that would be a new school record! Trey Henderson leading the bunch with 13 carries for 219 yards and 4 rushing TDs. Kaiveon Cox was next up with 8 carries for 192 yards and 2 TDs,and then Mason Cumbie with 4 carries for 60 yards and 2 TDs. There were obviously more players involved in this great achievement, but these were our top guys. While trying to keep this streak going, Hopewell will be preparing for Dinwiddie next week. I look forward to the next game, and I think this team has tons of potential to be great!
