Hopewell vs Matoaca (Boys' Basketball)

In their first game of the season, The Hopewell Blue Devils played against the Matoaca Warriors. Led by Elvin Edmonds, Hopewell was able to succeed when shooting from the perimeter. Cartier Strickland, and Randall “RJ” Richardson were two other players that were able to hit threes. Kaleb Coleman helped the Devils in their defensive effort. Hopewell had 16 steals in total, 5 of which came from Coleman. Elvin Edmonds scored 23 points in this game, and was able to make 5 three-pointers. He would have 4 steals defensively. Kaleb Coleman had 12 points, and 5 rebounds. Cartier Strickland scored 12 points as well. Hopewell would win their first game of the season 71-41 over Matoaca, starting at 1-0. This win was a team effort from all the players. They will play against Colonial Heights on Friday.
