Hopewell vs Henrico

The Hopewell Blue Devils traveled to Henrico to play the Warriors this past Friday. This game would be an important one for Hopewell. Starting the first half strong was Trey Henderson, the highly respected Athlete. He would start this game off with 4 TDs in the first half alone. 3 of these TDs would be rushing, while the 1st of the game would be reception on a ball thrown by QB Joseph Eliades. In the first half, the defense also made great plays. These plays were led by DE Reggie Ruffin. Reggie has been an outstanding player for the Blue Devils thus far in his career. Another highlight of the first half for the defense, would be the interception from CB Zion Hubbard. This play would pretty much wrap up the first half. Henrico started the second half with the ball, and would have a long first drive. The long drive would result in a touchdown. The Warriors then followed this with yet another touchdown, but would miss the extra point. Trey Henderson, who was previously roughed up in the second half, scored a great rushing TD for the Blue Devils. This TD would be the last of the game. The ending score was 35-13, this is a great win for Hopewell over a #7 ranked Henrico team, also putting them at 3-0. Hopewell went out, and played the best team ball they could in order to get this win. I spoke with DE Keyon Williams, who also had a good game. He told me “I went out there doing whatever I could for the team to win.” I think this really tells you what kind of athletes we have on our team.
