Hopewell vs Colonial Heights

In a match-up that was completely one-sided, Hopewell traveled to Colonial Heights to play the Colonials. The first half saw great offensive performances from Trey Henderson, and Kaiveon Cox. These two would combine for 4 of the 6 first half TDs. The defense also played great in the first half. Allowing 0 points, sacking the QB multiple times, and recovering a blocked punt for a TD. More highlights from this half would be Joseph Eliades tossing two TDs on screen plays. When the second half started, we saw a duo of backup QB Mason Cumbie, and RB Khatoine Taylor. Cumbie had 2 second half TDs; 1 passing TD, and 1 rushing TD. Taylor made things easier for the young QB with some great runs. The defense continued with the great play they showed in the first half, only allowing 1 TD in the second half. Hopewell Blue Devils won 54-6. I was able to talk to Joseph Eliades after the game, and I asked him questions about the offense. He told me “The offense is playing well, but definitely has room for improvement, we need to have a great week at practice to be ready to hit on all cylinders next Friday night.” He also told me that they will be watching film for areas of improvement. This is another great win for the team, keeping them undefeated on the season.
