In the first round of the Tri-City Holiday Classic, the Hopewell Blue Devils played against the Church Hill Academy Phantoms. The Devils came into this game with a 4-1 record on the season. Elvin Edmonds had 16 points, and 8 assists. He also had 3 steals on the defensive end. Cartier Strickland had 15 points, and 2 assists. Dennard Hutchinson had another near double-double. The big man scored 9 points, and grabbed 8 rebounds. Many other players played key roles in this game. Due to this fact, Hopewell was able to get the win. The score was 78-43, with Hopewell taking down Church Hill in the first round of the tournament. Hopewell plays against Varina today.
