Grading the Cowboys in Week 2

The Dallas Cowboys went to Landover, Maryland to play a divisional rival, the Washington Redskins. This rivalry is a great one, year after year, the players on both teams put blood, sweat, and tears into the game. There is plenty of history with great players, and coaches on both sides. This is of course the first matchup of the year between the two teams.

The offense had a tough start, with an interception on one of the first drives. Dak Prescott’s first against the Redskins in his career. The turnover was not all his fault, but he definitely could’ve prevented it. He eventually improved as the game went along, starting with a long ball to Devin Smith. Dak also finished the game with only four incompletions. He finished the game with 269 yards, and 3 TDs. Kellen Moore continued with the great play-calling again this week, finding a way to keep everyone included. Ezekiel Elliott finished the game with 23 rushes, 111 yards, and 1 TD. Elliott was not the only player to carry the ball in this game. Prescott, and fellow RB Tony Pollard, also had highlight runs in this game. The defense played pretty decently, but were not perfect. They allowed a few of the opposing players to make plays that were key to their touchdowns; Terry McLaurin, and Chris Thompson were two of the guys that made these plays. Allowing the other offense to be on the field for long periods of time, led to some of the guys getting tired. In turn allowed the Redskins receivers to be open. Penalties are another thing that may need to be corrected on the defensive side.

The game was a good one for us, thankfully we got the win. This win will really help us for the playoffs, because it is a divisional game, which is our second on the season already. Starting the season by beating the Giants first, and now the Redskins, has put us at the top of the division. Next week we will be facing off against the Dolphins, who have not been great this season. We need to play the same as we have so far this season offensively. Defensively we need to make a few adjustments. Overall the idea is to not play down to the competition, and keep up the great work.
